SOY offers Family-Centered Learning and Community-Based Learning services in partnership with local social service agencies to improve how parents, children, youth and young adults learn to use their home, school, neighborhood and worplace to compete for meaningful roles in society. SOY efforts are designed to build small learning communities to reduce conflicts in the home; increase school achievement; reduce deviance in the neighborhood; prepare more poor, minority, high need, and special need children and families to perform in the workforce. SOY provides information through educational forums, Building Human Asset meetings and other events to the public about how to improve learning and support services to children, youths and young adults who struggle in their home, school, neighborhood and workplace networks. Too many children and families are growing up with the worst signs of family decline, school failure, recidivism and poverty in California and throughout our nation.
