SOY offers Family-Centered Learning and Community-Based Learning services in partnership with local social service agencies to imporove how parents, children, youth and young adults learn to use their home, school, neighborhood and worplace to compete for meaningful roles in society. 

SOY efforts are designed to build small learning communities to reduce conflicts in the home; increase school achievement; reduce deviance in the neighborhood; prepare more poor, minority, high need, and special need children and families to perform beyond basic task in the workforce.

SOY seeks to know how to better prepare learning and support services to children, youths and young adults to improve their homes, schools, neighborhoods and workplaces and who are growing up with the worst signs of family decline, school failure, recidivism and poverty in California's history.
